Advent Shorts: Day 6 – Rush Hour Grave

Hi all!

So, this weekend is kind of hectic for me. I was out all yesterday and just got back after being out all morning. And I have a very small window in which I can accomplish things before I’m swept up again. It’s great to be busy, but I want to be writing!

Anyway, long story short — too late — today’s short is really that! A short 100 words that is winter set but not exactly Christmas-oriented. I hope you enjoy it!

Tomorrow’s will be longer. That’s a promise.

Rush Hour Grave

I sit in my car and watch the snow fall.

A bitter chill pierces the down jacket ensconcing my torso. It settles into my delicate bones.

The light snowfall mutates into an untamed blizzard. My car crawls through the impregnable white mist. At last, I am forced to park upon the icy surface and pray that the drivers behind me have enough sense to do the same.

For days it rages. The rush hour ridden highway transforms into a frozen graveyard for the unfortunate caught in nature’s cruel grasp.

A honk behind jolts me back to reality. I move forward an inch and descend back into rumination.

FIN

May inspiration flow like ink on your quill,

      1. It’s pretty warm here lately too. I hear it’s supposed to get up to 70 degrees (F) on Sunday around where I live. I personally like a colder Christmas season, so I’m a little saddened. But it is what it is.
