#WIPjoy

This was the last week for #WIPjoy in June. The next one will either take place in August or September. I loved taking part this time, and can’t wait for the next one 🙂

Day 26: What keeps you working on this WIP?

Day 28: What do you want the future book cover to be like?

Day 29: What’s the best thing people can say about this WIP? (excuse the typo…)

Day 30: What are you planning for your next WIP after this one?

Writing

As day 30’s #WIPjoy post reveals, my other main WIP at the moment is Heritage. Last month I did a read through of my first draft and switched the entire POV from third person to first person. It was a BIG undertaking, but a necessary one, and ultimately a rewarding one 🙂

In July, I have three main writing goals outlined: edit a decent second draft of Heritage ready for a beta-read, finish a final draft of my dark adaptation screenplay (a goal carrying on from last month)! I’m also working on a new project–one that I’m rather excited for, but not yet ready to reveal. Maybe in August.

Entertainment

Thinking about the release of Beauty and the Beast in 2017 with Dan Stevens and Emma Watson, I’ve been in a bit of an Emma Watson mood, so I looked up some movies of hers that I haven’t watched and ended up choosing Perks of Being a Wallflower. I wasn’t prepared to enjoy it, and yet I did! Emma was fantastic and Ezra Miller has earned a great amount of respect from me. It was really great storytelling and directing. A surprise winner 🙂

In My Life

I mentioned in my 20 Things about Me tag that I had recently made one of the most impulsive purchases of my life! Well, I’m happy to announce that it came in earlier today and I am extremely excited to be get started learning how to play my brand new violin!!

I have been playing the guitar for many years which is in no way a sign that I’ll manage the violin with any more ease.

You might be asking why I bought it. Well, a lot of it has to do with an old dream to learn another instrument. But a big reason for the impulsive suddeness has a lot to do with the protagonist of Heritage, Peggie. She plays the fiddle. I want to feel more of a bond with her and I think that’ll be best achieved if we can share a love of an instrument. So I’ll be learning — hopefully she can teach me a bit ;P

Can you remember your most impulsive buy? What was it and what inspired you to purchase it? Leave a comment. I’d love to hear about it 🙂

May inspiration flow like ink upon your quill,

Faithquill-ink

  1. What a fantastic impulse buy! I’d love to learn how to play the violin, it’s a gorgeous instrument! 😁 I can’t remember my last impulse buy, coloured pens for plotting maybe? lol

    1. Learning to play the violin has been on my bucket list for a while. It is beautiful.
Actually, I think my last impulse buy before this one was also coloured pens! I bought 2 different packs to see which I would prefer. I kind of love them both ;P Writer’s life, right? 🙂

  2. Oh, that is a pretty cool purchase and all the best learning how to play the violin. I don’t know how to play any instrument but wouldn’t mind learning the guitar someday. All the best with the writing and all your plans. Have a beautiful week.

  3. If you enjoyed the Perks of Being a Wallflower movie, then you should definitely read the book. It’s such an endearing read, especially because it’s written in epistolary format from Charlie’s POV, so it draws you so close to him. *wants to hug Charlie*

That’s amazing about the violin! You’ll have to let us know how things come along with learning to play it. Are you planning to take lessons?

My last impulse buy… I don’t know. I try to be careful with my budget, especially since I live on my own. But I did buy a candle and two new summery shirts the other night, as well as two more Sarah McLachlan albums (in preparation for her concert with Josh Groban later this month).

    1. I do want to read the novel. I always meant to read it first, but the movie was easier to access 😛 That’s really not like me (I always prefer book before movie).
I will let you know. I’m planning to self-teach myself at the moment, but I’ll move to lessons if that gets me nowhere.
Those are great buys! Enjoy the albums.

      1. I did actually get it out the cupboard a few weeks ago for my daughter and her friend to try. They were a bit shocked how difficult it was to get a proper sound out of it.
I would like to try again one day but, as my dusty electric piano will testify, writing comes before learning anything else.

  4. You are such an encouraging person with big dreams. I enjoy reading about all these dreams. What kind of guitar do you play? I own a classical guitar, v. the steel string folk type. Classical is fun, but harder to learn for sure. I play regular stuff as well. Have you ever seen Fiddler on the roof? when I was in college, I worked backstage for Fiddler, and they actually brought in a guy from the college band who played the fiddle to play the “Fiddler” on the roof. It was sooo fun to listen to him play backstage and on stage. He had to climb a ladder back stage and stand at the top of the ladder and play the fiddle So that it looked as if he were playing on the roof.
And btw, Beauty and the Beast was my favorite animated classic behind Little Mermaid so I think the live one will be pretty awesome. I need to go watch the live action Cinderella, b/c I’ve heard great things. Oh I hope it works out well for these live action Disney movies 🙂

    1. I have a classical one as well! And I love it 🙂
Fiddler on the Roof is such a fantastic musical! One of my favourites for sure.
And Beauty and the beast is my favourite animated classic! It always makes me smile!
I watched Cinderella. It was a decent film. Not my favourite, but not my least favourite either ;P I hope you enjoy it when you get a chance to watch it.
And thank you for always being so encouraging. You brighten my day ❤

      1. You brighten my day! I need to change the strings on my guitar because 1 broke. I dont play much these days. Any spare time I find I end up writing or editing. Good luck learning the violin. Listen to Joshua Bell 🙂
